Help us build the cycling OS.

We are a small team in NYC building the marketplace, community, and intelligence platform for cyclists. We hire people who ride, who take craft seriously, and who want to own hard problems.

Chief Technology Officer

Location: New York, NY Type: Full-time

About the role

You will own the technical direction of Cyclaa, from the Fastify and PostgreSQL/PostGIS backend and real-time tracking to the React Native rider and mechanic apps. You will build and lead the engineering team and make the calls on architecture, payments, and scale.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical vision and choose the stack for the API, mobile apps, and data systems.
  • Build the marketplace core: listings, search, matching, booking, payments, and reviews.
  • Write code hands-on in the early phase and resolve critical production issues.
  • Establish engineering practices for testing, code review, releases, and on-call support.
  • Build and lead the engineering team; set hiring bars and engineering practices.
  • Deliver booking, matching, real-time GPS tracking, and payments (including Stripe Connect payouts).
  • Partner with the CEO on roadmap, fundraising, and investor technical diligence.
  • Work with operations to turn mechanic and rider workflows into product.
  • Own security, reliability, and data protection for rider and mechanic information.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineers.
  • Production experience with Node.js/TypeScript and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience shipping mobile applications (React Native preferred).
  • Track record of building scalable, reliable systems and making sound tradeoffs under time pressure.
  • Strong written communication and comfort working closely with non-technical teammates.
  • Comfort writing code yourself and triaging production issues under pressure.
  • Experience designing secure systems that handle payment data or personal information.

Preferred

  • Experience with marketplace, payments, or real-time systems.
  • Startup experience at the seed or Series A stage.
  • You ride a bike, and you have opinions about it.

Head of Operations

Location: New York, NY Type: Full-time

About the role

You will run the day-to-day machine that makes Cyclaa work for riders and mechanics: recruiting and onboarding the mechanic network, dispatch and booking operations, quality and trust, and the playbook for launching new neighborhoods and cities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale the mechanic network: recruiting, verification, onboarding, and training.
  • Own the end-to-end funnel for mechanic supply, from first contact to a first completed job.
  • Own booking and dispatch operations, service-level targets, and customer resolution.
  • Set and enforce trust and safety standards, including insurance and service quality.
  • Manage relationships with shops, parts suppliers, and any logistics or inventory partners.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and marketing on the rider and mechanic experience.
  • Write SOPs and run KPI and OKR reviews daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Define operating metrics, build reporting, and use data to improve the network.
  • Lead and develop the operations team as it grows.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of operations experience, ideally in a marketplace, on-demand, logistics, or service network.
  • Demonstrated success scaling a supply-side network (contractors, drivers, or service providers).
  • Experience building processes and managing people through growth.
  • Comfortable with data: you define metrics, read them, and act on them.
  • Strong judgment on quality, safety, and customer trust.
  • Strong analytics: comfortable modeling in Excel and running root-cause and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to execute quickly in an early-stage company.

Preferred

  • Experience with city launches or multi-market expansion.
  • Familiarity with NYC operations, the cycling community, or both.
